EcoSenshi is operated by Selva Rasaiah who was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. He has Bachelor of Science (Honours) from Laurentian University, an Environmental Diploma from the University of Waterloo, and was certified in US EPA Method 303 and Method 9 for monitoring emissions from coke oven batteries at Algoma Steel Inc.

After auditing emissions at Algoma Steel and the experience of living close to the steel plant, there was a need to further monitor the impact of these emissions in the community. The ministry inspections within the steel plant are limited and public complaints were not properly investigated by the ministry, local health unit, and those responsible at the city.

Industries do a lot of self-reporting and information provided by them are not closely scrutinized to determine their accuracy. Our leadership and the ministry are failing to hold polluters accountable and transparent for the impacts from their operations. EcoSenshi uses fact-based evaluations to ensure that the people and the environment come first.

Careful observations are important in protecting our air and water quality. We record and document visible emissions and contamination on surface water to better understand the risks and initiate actions to prevent their reoccurrence.

Fighting climate change and protecting our environment requires a regular review of the latest research, performance of industry, and government policy and regulations. We are committed to effective collaboration and independent research to ensure success.

Our Future
The impacts of climate change and the lack of confidence in industry and government to meet our climate emergency requires an alternative approach. EcoSenshi represents the devotion of a samurai warrior mentality where the health of the people and the environment are our duty and priority. EcoSenshi uses a traditional scientific-based and dynamic approach to fight our climate emergency and protect our health. EcoSenshi believes in the importance of industry but demands accountability and transparency which considers the impacts to our health and of our environment.
Political Accountability – We can have a great impact on meeting the challenges of climate change and protecting our health by demanding political action. We must take responsibility for those we elect and ensure they are representing our interests. Environmental laws, regulations and enforcement depend on the political leadership entrusted to protect us and our planet.
Public Education– We need to be active in educating ourselves and sharing information with others. Government education on the environment is limited and access to information through Freedom of Information requests can be lengthy and costly. Media coverage can be dependent on their level of interest or influenced by pressure from government and industry.
Industry Transparency – We need jobs and a strong economy but we also need good heath and a clean environment. Operating is a privilege that should be appreciated and respected by demonstrating a willingness to be honest, transparent and accountable for all actions.
Public Accountability– Effective change begins with every one of us. This includes reporting emissions, volunteering and participating green projects as well as, and making necessary sacrifices to limit our own impact on the environment. It is about community and a selfless will to do greater good for all people and our environment.
